Your opinions on this?

I was cleaning out kennels, feeding the animals when these people come in with this rott. Apprently they went camping with her (her name was Roxie) and tied her to SOMEONE ELSE'S camper. The other person left in the middle of the night not knowing the dog was attatched to their camper. The dog was dragged two miles. She tried to run for part of it because her nails and pads were burned off. She was missing large portions of skin all over her body.

These people brought her in expecting the doctors to save her. Dr. P told her that it would probably be more humane to put her to sleep, but they refused. So the dog underwent 8 hours of surgery and skin grafts. Meanwhile she was in horrible horrible pain. She died from an infection.

IMHO, they should not have been allowed to force her to suffer through that. Further, there must be some justice for Roxie. Who is that reckless with a pet???

#1 She should've been euthanized right off the bat (just like I believe in euthanasia for human beings too)

#2 The people should've been brought up on charges of abuse/neglect and served jail time. If someone chained their child to a camper, and the child was dragged for several miles, they'd have been charged with child abuse, right? It's no different. This was a sentient, conscious creature who these people treated like a piece of trash. Let them rot in prison for a few years and see if they change their minds as to the value of animal life.

Sorry, I've sat throught that fur thread in GD today, and my tolerance for cruelty towards animals is at an all time fucking low. Someone who could be that careless with a life they were entrusted to protect is absolutely fucking worthless.

being, whatsoever. The poor dog should have been put down right away, they were just trying to soothe their horribly earned guilt by "giving her a chance" and poor Roxie had to pay for their second incredibly neglectful ignorant mistake of that day.

Stupid bastards will probably skip out on the bill for her treatment too.

I would definately have a strong urge to spit in those peoples faces. I would without any doubt or hesitation be happy to tell them that they disgust me.

Someone else's camper? So, how did they get the dog back? How did the driver of the camper know the dog was back there AFTER 2 miles? Did the camper take off, they realized it, then chased it down?

Sorry for my negativity, but I see this more often than I care to think about (folks responsible for their animals' damage, then lying about it).

Hopefully, Roxie stopped feeling the pain when she got the anesthesia, then passed not knowing all that pain.

They said that as the camper was driving out of the campground, someone going in saw the dog and stopped the driver who figured the dog belonged to the people there.

I kind of agree with the other poster who said that it was like they were trying to buy their way out of guilt. I've seen it before.

Although, you never know how cruel people are willing to be to animals for a laugh. In some group on here, someone told a story of how their cat went into the dryer and lots of people had a good yuk yuk. However, I saw a cat that went into a dryer. It was dead by the time they brought it in, and it died in a horrible horrible way. I could easily believe some moron thought it would be funny to tie the dog to the car and see it run.

Probably what drove me into animal rights, some one has to protect the animals from stupid people...heh. However most of the extremely sad, sad cases were freakish accidents, like the kitten and the recliner chair, and the poodle puppy and a car door.

But one that really tore me up, was a really nice family that went on vacation for two weeks, both mom and dad thought the other one arranged with a neighbor to take care of the pets....we had to euthanize both, they hadn't quite starved to death yet :( As much as I wanted to throttle them, their pain and guilt was almost as gut-wrenching.

Oh, that poor rottie. Too bad we can't legislate ignorance!! Unfortunately, there are just too many intentionally abusive humans to deal with, and make sure THEY never go NEAR another animal.
