Texas Vegans and Vegetarians, do you like organic wine?
A friend of mine is selling organic wines in his Health Food store now, and he is willing to ship. Right now his collection includes:

2002 Bettili Valpolicella (Italy)
2003 Nuevo Mundo Cabernet Sauvignon (Chile)
2002 Bettili Merlot
2003 Pincas Negras Syrah (Argentina)
2003 Sonop Wine Farm Shiraz
2002 Bettili Pinot Grigio
2000 Jacques Blanc St-Emilion (France)
2003 Klaus Knobloch Riesling (Germany)
Can Vendrell Cava Brut Reserva (Spain)

He is adding another ten or eleven wines to his list soon. Shipping can be for a bottle or case.

PM me if you are interested, and I'll give you the details on reaching him.

1. Are they just organic or also vegan?

One of the things I miss since going vegan is wine, so I'd love to find a decent supplier, but organic doesn't necessarily mean vegan.

Also, I live in Virginia, and I know they have some laws regarding interstate shipment of alcohol. Is he aware of the different restrictions that different states have?

3. thanks for that
got me thinking, so I had to go look for other alcohols (Jack Daniel's specifically)

and I got this link which lists lots of different alcohols:

http://www.vnv.org.au/AlcoholByName.htm

and YAY - Jack is vegan appropriate; good thing, I'd hate to have to give up drinking that!

From your link, I need to rethink my wine choices, I've never given any thought to alcohol not being vegan appropriate, just shows how little I know about how things are produced.

4. In addition to the other posts, I know that Habitat organic wines are
all vegan. Habitat was kind enough to respond to my inquiry the very same day I sent it.

5. Yes, the ones I bought are "Vegan" on the bottle.

I bought the Bettili Merlot and Valpolicella, and they are vegan.

I suspect some of the other ones are also.

My friend doesn't have his website up yet, but he can be reached at 361-573-4711. This is the Health Food House, and Sam is the owner who has brought in these wines. He would also know which of the other wines are vegan. I bet they'd send you a brochure if you called with your address.

He, like many others, is still checking on the interstate shipment, which is why I addressed to Texas Vegans et al since we are in Texas. But he thinks he'll be allowed to ship under the new rules.
