Anyone ordered a new iPod yet?
The nano looks very sweet, but I want to get my hands on one before I consider buying. And I did buy a shuffle that I've not even managed to wear out or lose yet, so...

The iTunes phone looks good, too. (check out the website where you can "make it dance" and the TV spots.) Don't think I use a cell enough to justify $250 + 2 years of $39.99 a month for a Cingular plan, so I'll probably pass for now, too.

The new iTunes is great if for NO other reason than you can now make FOLDERS of playlists. I have a lot of audiobooks, so it's great to make a playlist for each one, but the list of playlists was getting out of hand... now I just dump them all into a folder. A folder for podcasts, etc. Big BIG thumbs up from me for that one. Not a helluva lot new... modest redesign, some prefs moved around... I'll have to explore it more.

Big disappointment of today's announcements is the Harry Potter iPod... pure exploitation. It's a 20GB iPod (what kid needs 20GB?) with a Hogwarts logo engraved on it - $299. Big deal, like the U2 one. But the real stinker is that apparently to get this iPod, you are REQUIRED to order all 6 HP books as audio downloads for a price of an ADDITIONAL $249! DOWNLOADS. You don't even get the CDs or anything. If you already have one, or two, or more, TOUGH... you'll get to buy them AGAIN at LIST PRICE if you or your little kid is going to get one of these babies.

Steve, I doubt many people want to pay $549 for the audiobooks of HP and an iPod, and it makes you and Apple look bad to be selling them in this fashion. If anything, you should be able to buy the ipod, and the individual books at a DISCOUNT for download if you order at the same time. At least with the U2 one, buyers got a coupon for $50 off the "virtual box set."

I'm not a Potter person, so I don't care except that it makes Apple look bad (I am a shareholder). I don't know, maybe the iPotter is aimed at wealthy parents or hardcore fanatics (who probably already HAVE the Potter audiobooks)... it's just plain idiotic.

1. I would like to get one because it looks cool, but I already have a U2...
iPod that still looks brand new.

The U2 iPod looked so good I had to have that one.

3. Yes, the Nano, or the Harry Potter, or the iTunes Phone...
...any of them.

5. I'll probably get mine after Christmas. The size is perfect for me
for the gym or out walking, and I'm quite content with 1,000 songs for those purposes.

Just the same, I'm hoping Apple will do something about the troubles with the very vulnerable screen.
