Just made the switch!

Purchased my new Mac Mini on Friday. Had the new computer set up and the data from my old computer transfered over in about 4 hours. I was amazed at how easy it was. It connected to our pc-based network easier than any of our pc's! It even synchronized with my bluetooth phone. Trying to synchronize this phone on a pc was a nightmare - even with the extra software provided by Nokia. On the mini, I didn't need to do anything.

After using the computer for the last couple of days, the thing that really strikes me is that the mac lets me do a whole bunch of cool things that I didn't even know existed.

So. Glad. I. Switched!

2. I've been thinking a Mini would be perfect for my Mom

Things are just getting too complicated on the PC for her (in my opinion). She has to pay some guy to come over and set up and maintain her network and it's just two computers. Not to mention, I think she'd really like features I'm just now discovering.

3. Do it! It won't take her long to learn the OS and as you have already....

...found out, it's much more intuitive than windows.

I got one for my wife, who is extremely non-technical and she picked it up in no time. She's used to working on PCs at work before she retired, and the switch was painless for her.

4. And the best part is, if you really need to use Windows programs,

you can just buy a copy of Virtual PC.

You'll be astonished that Windows starts up faster in emulation on a Mac than it does on a Wintel computer.

Mrs R runs Windows QuickBooks on a Powerbook using VPC 6, and when her customers see it running, they're astonished that it's running on a Mac.

5. Does VPC work for every program?

I checked into it, it's a couple of hundred bucks. Might be less money to get a KVM. I probably need one anyway since I'm using the old pc as virtual storage for my files.

8. I just switched a couple of weeks

Bought a new Mac mini when my Windows 98/Pentium II finally went belly up.

Easiest install of computer I ever saw. All I did was plug in my devices to the Mac mini and turn it on. Everything worked fine without me having to load a bunch of drivers on to the computer.

Learning the Tiger OS was easy too. It didn't take me too long to figure out how to get around on the Mac.

What I like about the Mac is that is lets the user do what they want to do without the OS getting in the way, like Windows does.
