Your Favorite iPad Apps?
Yes, Santa was good to me. I got a 64GB iPad.

I need to fill it up with good stuff. What are your favorite apps for this thing?

1. Pandora, starwalk, npr, bbc, kcrw, talking tom, ais ship finder, navatex (these last two
are for boaters), wallace and grommit the game (and the best game for this device I have yet to see), netflix and all the reads (ibooks, noon, kindle),

I have a lot of others, but these are the ones I use most frequently. I peruse their topseller list frequently to see what others are getting. It is so easy to download and remove apps, that you can do a lot of experimenting.

3. iPad apps
Here's a list of the apps I use the most on mine.

* Atomic Web Browser
* Kindle for iPad
* Nook for iPad
* GoogleBooks for iPad (you can tell I use mine for a lot of reading)
* GoodReader and/or iAnnotate and/or Papers (any of these are great PDF readers. I have a slight preference for iAnnotate. Papers is good for reading scientific journal rticles).
* iWorks suite (Pages, Numbers, Keynote)
* Twitter for iPad
* Marvel comics app (and DC's app, too, if you like comics)
* WeatherStation
* NoteTaker HD
* VLC
* ZumoCast
* SketchBook
* Dropbox

As you can see, I use my iPad *a lot*--it has completely replaced my MacBook Pro for "around the house getting things done" usage. I am also a college professor, and use it quite a bit in the classroom as well.

5. Use mine for research and writing
so Manuscript is pretty good, though waiting for Auteureist to finally release in the next fifteen days.

Scrips pro

Simplenote... free and I got an external back up

Index Card

Bump (IPOD, works on the Pad, hubby and I share info that way)

Movies by fixter

Docs to go

PDF Notes (Free, getting better all the time)

Oh and since you were nice, I highly recommend a bluetooth keyboard. The APPLE one works fine, and believe it or not was the most reasonably priced.

For readying Nook and Kindle of course

If you need an outliner... OUTLINER is a must

Evernote works but not as well as I expected.

Oh and WUNDER RADIO is a must if you want to listen to progressive radio, or round the world.

I got the BBC, propublica and HufPo, as well as La Jornada and Reforma for news

And just for futzing with art... both Art Rage and Colored Pencils are good tools.

Now quite on the fringe side... exoplanet, if you are into the search of well, planets outside this system.

Oh and for notes, I like Notebook

6. All of the OmniGroup stuff
I have OmniFocus and OmniGraffle in both desktop and iPad versions, and they're great.

NoteTaker HD is amazing to use with a stylus.

For generic shopping lists (multiple, with lookup lists), ShopShop is free and more than adequate. I use both the iPad and iPod Touch versions.

For actual word processing, Pages from Apple is the only app there is, as far as I know (styling, paragraph indentations, embedded graphics, etc...).

The free version of GoSkyWatch Planetarium for iPad is well worth the download. As is Dragon Dictation.

For accessing Facebook, Friendly is probably the best on the iPad that I've seen. Free version works fine.
