ipad 2
Want to get an i pad for daughter who lives in Guadalajara,MX.
Should i get one with AT&T or Verizon access, or will either work?
She will use it basically for e mail/skype with family/friends in the USA
i imagine. She has wifi access in her house...thanks for any recommendations...z

1. If it's mainly for email and skype, why buy an ipad, especially if she already has
a wifi connection at home?

3. .Basically because she is "computer challenged" and her
skype program doesn't work worth a d#@$. Am trying
to find out if she has wifi and i feel that she
will have more success with an Apple product....
thanks for the thought though...z

2. If she has wifi, you need not get one with 3G (or is it 4G now?) access
The iPad will work great anywhere there's a wifi hotspot. Obviously, that includes home. But it also includes anyplace else. The 3G connection allows it to connect anyplace there's cellular service.

In Mexico, I have no clue if AT&T or Verizon is the right way to go. I would bet a locally bought iPad would be the better choice. That said, the AT&T version is supposedly an open, "global" system, while Verizon is proprietary.

I defer to those smarter than me on all of the above.

4. Thanks,Stinky...Am trying to find out
if she has wifi at home. She has problems with her
computer (uses a system that i'm not familiar with)
and can't get on skype for more than a couple of minutes
before it clicks off. Am trying to get her set up with an
Apple product on her visit next week because i doubt if
she could do it on her own. She is definitely "computer
challenged" IMO :)...Thanks for your thoughts though....z
