Cookies for redqueen--Molasses Crinkles
Molasses Crinkles

Mix thoroughly:
3/4 cup soft shortening
1 cup brown sugar (packed)
1 egg
1/4 molasses

Sift together and stir in:
2-1/4 cups sifted flour
2 teaspoons soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1/4 teaspoon salt

Wrap dough and chill for at least 2 hours. Roll into balls the size of a walnut and dip the tops in sugar. Place 3 inches apart on a greased baking sheet. Bake at 375F for 10-12 minutes, until set, but not hard. Yield: 4 dozen.

(These are the quintessential Grandma cookies, they taste great and your house will smell like Christmas while you bake them. I use parchment paper instead of greasing the baking sheet. This is also a good recipe to double.)

1. "Grandma cookies"
As a matter of fact, my grandmother is always asking if I'm going to make her some "ginger" cookies... I believe I'll give these a try.

Thanks for posting!
