One of the Better Recipes I've stolen...

...Comes from the book "A treasury of top secret recipes" and involves cream of broccoli soup...It is a close approximation of an item served at "Big Boy" and well worth a try....

4 cups chicken stock
1 Large bunch chopped broccoli (3 cups)
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 bay leaf (I use 2)
salt and pepper to taste
1/4 cup flour (I use a lesser amount of cornstarch)
1/3 cup ham (I use a LOT more)
1/2 cup heavy cream (none-like I said,I'm a cornstarch guy...)

1. Cook all the stuff for half an hour or so...leave out the last three at this point..
2.Throw out the bay leaf or leaves.Throw 1/2 the soup in the blender and puree.Add back to the pot.
3.Thicken with their choice or mine...
4.Add ham and cream (if you must) and simmer an additional 15-20 minutes.
