1. I saw that
but I'm not sure about it since I didn't see that program.

If it's just a "adding a spiritual dimention to your life" can help me maintain a healthy lifestyle kind of thing, well that's fine and not all that relavatory. But if it's "get your diet in gear to uphold your spiritual life. Yech. Unless they were doing some sort of overview of spiritual practices like fasting, for instance.

I guess I'm conflicted at this point.

2. I saw a part of it
What I saw seemed rather goofy. I don't think it's an ongoing show.

The small bit I saw discussed a group of Cancer survivors touting a diet rich in Raw foods. The claim was this kind of diet was Biblically based and the reason why folks "lived so long" back in Biblical times.

6. I would doubt the 900 yr old Methuselah part..

.... they did not have State Farm around then to send them calendars:)

real life expectancy back then was probably about 30 if you were not royal or a rich person:(

It's all a trade off really..

Be thin and "healthy" , but work HARD at phsyical tasks, and die of a horrific injury, childbirth, or some nasty disease.

or live a long time (modern life) and do easy work, but eat adulterated foods, drink polluted water, breathe bad air, and take lots of pills.. You live longer ,but may not enjopy a lot of it:(

7. "Never pick up a cornered cat"
SoCalDem, is that _YOUR_ hand???? Oh my gosh! Please take good care of it, it may be the case that "it looks worse than it is" but then again, it really looks awful and painful.

9. That looks bad
It brings back memories of an almost duplicate incident we had here when our male tabby scaredy cat was a kitten. My husband and I both got really bad bites on our hands trying to catch the poor little thing. :(

I hope you both heal well and soon.

11. 900-year-old Methuselah
I've always suspected that those "years" in that part of the Bible were really lunar cycles. A lot of ancient cultures paid a lot more attention to the moon than we do. If you divide all those ages by 12.6 (number of lunar cycles in a year) you get sensible human ages, e.g. about 71 for Methuselah. That was probably a pretty ripe old age for the Bronze Age.

3. Yes, I saw that thread
I think that show would have more success on one of the religious stations.

5. It sounds like this show is going to offend everybody
From what I've read, it sounds like they're not concentrating on the Calvinist god stuff, they're branching out into Yoga and other body/mind spiritual/physical systems, and that is going to piss the conspicuous Christians off horribly. Meanwhile, there will be just enough Supply Side Jesus to piss everybody else off.

I wish them luck. It doesn't sound like that bad a show for people who are into that sort of thing, but there's a reason religion needs to be somewhat compartmentalized in this country. Once you stick god into anything, you welcome bigotry and shouts of "blasphemy!" no matter how careful you are.

10. I saw the end portion about challah
and it was really informative. I'm Jewish but not particularly religious, so I had no idea that the braiding of challah had some religious significance. It was more anthropological than evangelical in nature so I didn't see the problem with it.

And people doing yoga in Sedona or Christians doing the Jesus diet offends me less than those who proselytized for the Atkins or South Beach diet a couple years ago. Those people had a real fundamentalist fervor.
