Tony Bourdain
I'm watching back to back episodes of No Reservations.

I haven't seen him in a while. I always admired him. Unpretentious and as politically incorrect as all get out. I like his politics, too. He is doing a show on th Tejas/Mexico border area. He led off by berating the asshats who voted for The Wall and likened it to Berlin.

He's still smoking.

And he seems to gotten a bit chunky. His face shows it most.

Back to the show ...... he's smacking down some fat redneck in a bar ..... hot salsa eating contest.

1. I love him

he did a Tokyo episode Monday night...Morimoto fixed him an amazingly good looking feast at his XEX restaurant...amazing looking simple food that I was salivating over.

Food TV screwed up BIG time by shanking him..Travel TV is my new love...you get food AND travel...best of both.

Although, I am liking the new science show on food with Ted Allen, but wonder if this is a direct competitor for Alton Brown? They did a dry aged beef show and it was informative, until the second part of the show on brain burn (informative, but left a lot to be desired...crazy camera angles for this show too)

On edit - does anyone else besides my hubs and myself think Andrew Zimmern needs to learn to chew with his MOUTH closed? It makes his Bizarre Foods show nearly unwatchable for us, all we can focus on is his incessant lip smacking

5. Zimmerman's table manners .........
...... yup ..... he needs to close his mouth when he chews .... or they need to get his sound guy to modulate.

3. Tony Bourdain is hysterical
I never miss his shows because he's so good at observing people.

I've noticed the world-wide eating tour has caught up with his waistline too. :-) But he's still a skinny guy, comparatively speaking. I guess being tall has its advantages.

14. He lives in my neighborhood and I've seen him several times.
He's still quite skinny; rangy might be a good description.

4. I love to read him
and just finished "Nasty Bits."

I have a hard time watching him because every time he lights a butt, I want to slap him! Doesn't he know what he's doing to his palate?

Hell, if he hadn't deadened his taste buds, maybe he'd have made an outstanding chef as well as raconteur and bon vivant.

7. He's stopped smoking. If you'll notice in the new episodes--no cigs!!
Per what was said on Ruhlman's blog, he quit when the new baby came last spring. Good for him!

I never miss him. I share a lot of his opinions and philosophies, and I admire someone who will eat anything.

8. That was one of his best episodes.
It's from last year, as noted down thread he stopped smoking since then. I live in the Southwest, so the part about the Mexican sushi chef and his family living across the border hit home. Most of the MSM would rather demonize these people who are just trying to do the best they can to get by and take care of their families. There just has to be a better way to handle immigration, and I hope a President Obama will see to that.

9. He's my favorite tv chef, hands down
I'd tremble if I was cooking for him. But I'd still make him something Lithuanian!
