Gifts for Winos/Foodies -- Please help
My sister and sister-in-law are both gourmet cooks and wine enthusiasts. I am neither. I need help for Christmas gifts for them. I am budgeting about $50 each and need something shippable as I will not be seeing them at the holidays.

I'm desparate for suggestions! Please post ideas or good websites for me!

Thanks in advance.

1. Williams-Sonoma
http://www.williams-sonoma.com/

Sur La Table:

http://www.surlatable.com/

I could spend hours on both sites.

Hope this was helpful, happy shopping! :hi:

3. Wake Me Up has some good ideas for sites.

If you're not sure what they can use from them, maybe a gift card from either one. Or to Whole Foods if there is one in their area.

Or even a subscription to a nice cooking magazine they may not already get. I saw a beautiful one last month the deals with Italian cooking that I had never seen before. Wish I could remember the name. If I do I'll repost with it.

ETA: It might have been this one:

5. Two Italian magazines with similar formats
They both mix stories abut food, wine, and Italian life.

La Cucina Italiana

Italian Cooking and Living

Our soopermarket carries both of them.

6. Yeah, it was the
LaCucina Italiana. Luckily, the share recipes from previous issues without a charge on their website. There are a few there I really want to try. :hi:

7. I saw wine kits at the store tonight
First time I'd seen that. Complete with wine yeast, 750 ml bottles, labels, and fresh grape juice, I may get that for myself. lol

Sorta like these but, it was only about $40. This kit made merlot according to the package.

13. Thanks for all your suggestions!
You guys are the best -- but then you already knew that, didn't you.

I ordered each sister a gourmet cheese assortment from igourmet. Perfect!

Thanks Again!

16. my favorite california winery
i dunno, mostly serendipity. DH and i were in san fran, mother's day, and took a drive out to wine country. but he was being his usual mother's day ass. he kept arguing about where to go, even tho i had the map. so i just quit talking. he happened onto this place as it was getting late. we did a quick tasting, as they were closing in 15 minutes.
but we loved the wine, and joined their wine club.

17. I know you ordered already, but I would order something splurgy - truffles or foie gras
Do a google search on truffles, and you will find some reputable places. Amazon also sells jars of truffles.

For the gourmet, there is little that's more exciting.

18. The Flavor Bible
I know you already got your gifts, but if I were looking for a gift for a foodie, I'd give The Flavor Bible.

It's for people who already like to cook but like to experiment with flavors. There are no actual recipes in the book.
