Mixed Marriage's affect on a (way too) Early Spring Day
Today was a strange and heady day here at the residence of the Sparkly Fairy Princess and her gnome (me).

The weather was warm and sunny - almost 70. That's easily 20+ degrees above normal. I had a particularly good day with work and on a personal level (a very surprising financial windfall, of sorts). Both my sons had good news to tell me (all day, it seemed). A new house for one and a new car for the other - on the same day! Sparkly, Jr., our perennial embodiment of the Cyndi Lauper song Girls Just Want to Have Fun has now made honors two terms in a row. My daughter-in-law to be had a really great third interview for a job she's wanted for a while. The mother of a disruptive child in one of Sparkly's classes at the "music school for spoiled rich brats" where she teaches one day a week withdrew her evil liddle spawn; the entire early childhood music department was ecstatic.

So out goes me to the grocery. Our celebratory meal touched all the bases and hit all the right spots on our respective palates .... all done on the grill.

Mixed Marriage Surf and Turf (a nice rib eye steak for me and a lobster tail for Sparkly) ....... grilled red peppers ......... grilled pineapple ......... (leftover but extra good) porcini mushroom risotto ....... tomato and onion salad (made with Ugly Ripes) .... a nice white wine ..... Pellegrino ........ ended with a cuppa'spresso.

And I got a nice hug and kiss fer dessert!

2. Great day here too!!!
The weather was over 70, but not too far off normal. The roses are blooming like crazy AND *drum roll)as of today, we officially hit the 75% mark of the income we need for 2005. Finally, a chance to recapture the nest egg we lost during the Bushco years.

So how did we celebrate? I had a tuna sandwich and Jim went to his Democratic Executive Committee meeting and came home and he's eating a peanut butter and cucumber pickle sandwich. No celebrating tomorrow, he has a meeting of the Oil Patch Democrats and Friday an organizing meeting for a friend who has just formed an exploratory committee to run for Governor of Texas. YEE HAW!!!!! He BTW, is the congressman who filed ethics charges against Tom DeLay last summer. Thank you, Chris Bell, my hero!!

Saturday afternoon is the Houston DU meetup, at a beniget cafe, so it looks like the big celebration dinner won't be til we go out to dinner Saturday night. That's if you don't count dessert later tonight. *wink* *wink*

BTW, congrats on the kids' achievments and good luck to your future DIL!

Mary
