1. spaghetti and pork chops
An old family favorite from Mama Leone's restaurant in NYC. The pork chops are browned in olive oil, butter, garlic and rosemary. Then canned tomatoes and fresh parsley are added and the whole is simmered for a few hours. The liquid is tossed with hot spaghetti, more butter, and grated parm cheese, then plattered and the chops sit on top.

Along with this loaf that I hope turns out! And a green salad.

Oatmeal cookies in the oven right now.

2. I'll give that a try! Sounds good. I'm always looking for new things to do with a pork chop.
:D
Is this the olive oil loaf you're baking? How's it look today?

4. I'm on an Italian kick and we buy chops a lot because they are inexpensive.
It sounds like a marriage made in tasty budget heaven. :D

I'm so nervous about the loaf. Hope you like it. I feel like i've got a broadway show about to open. But I'm tough, and can handle a bad review, so it's all good. :D

13. That really is tempting!
All those elements simmering (plus bread, plus cookies) must give everyone in the house a case of the droolies. :9 Got me going!

19. haha
my mom started making faux pumpkin pies with plain old squash. she pulled a pie out of the freezer and "couldnt remember" if it was a real pumpkin pie or one of the wannabes. It tasted suspect to me. I have a long, bad history with squash.

served on a bed of leftover mashed potatoes from last night and a red leaf lettuce and sugar snap pea salad with accents of chopped tomato, red onion, and goat cheese with rice wine vinegar and EVOO drizzle. No bread, no dessert!

25. Just came back from a checkup with my doctor.
She said, "Be sure to eat fish and take flax seed oil." We've had fish Friday (sushi) Monday (flounder) Wednesday (tilapia) and if I cook on Saturday, we'll have salmon. Fresh fish from Florida....mmmmm. Good eatin'! :toast: Enjoy!

14. Bill's having
Edited on Wed Feb-25-09 08:17 PM by hippywife
chicken nuggets from WF and organic shoestring potatoes and a small green salad. I just ate a clementine. Poor guy's been eating leftover turnip risotto all week because I've been wiped out. Came home last night from the periodontist for a root scaling and went straight to the bed. Neither of us have been sleeping well so we're both just not with it this week at all.

Sleep is easier said than done. In addition to three cats crawling over us all night (and no way to shut them outta the loft) neither of us can stay comfortable enough all night to sleep through.

Gonna go give it my best shot right now. Well, I'll read for a bit while he watches TV.

Hope your dinner was yummy! WhaddamIsayin'? I know it had to be!

G'night. :hi:

ETA: This is his 55th b-day and he didn't even want to do anything.

Our critters know better than to sleep with us. I'm a toss n turner. They learned the hard way. :)
And the white noise thingy kills the racket. So I can sleep.

21. spam fried rice
Edited on Wed Feb-25-09 09:06 PM by AlecBGreen
lol, seriously. my wife is chinese and so she gets very little "real" chinese food here. SPAM is just like a processed meat they have over there so its one of her comfort foods.

1 fried egg, cut up
shredded carrots
1 pkg spam
2 cups cooked rice

stir fried in oil. served with a spicy chili-n-bean sauce. not bad!

p.s. life is so surreal... im wearing FUBU pajamas, dress socks, my fraternity shirt, eating spam fried rice, cooked by my chinese wife, listening to johnny cash sing "i shall not be moved." if you'd asked me 5 years ago where id be today...
