1. My husband and I were just talking about hot cross buns yesterday.
I hope yours looks as delicious as the ones in the picture.:9

I think I will try them, too.

2. I have never tried my hand at hot cross buns. I'll have to try them one of these days.
I just put a loaf of cranberry nut bread in the oven to have for breakfast tomorrow. I kind of improvised with an applesauce bread recipe (because it's so moist) and added some dried cranberries, grated orange peel and the juice of the orange. I made a loaf last week and it was delicious.

3. I haven't had those since I left Boston
Spanish Catholics do a lot of neat things around here, but hot cross buns aren't one of them. You never see them in stores.

4. King Arthur Flour Come through Again!
... the house smelled wonderful through the whole process - a little like Christmas time when I make stollen - as you start by soaking the dried fruit in rum.. yumm...

Not too dense, moderately sweet, easy to handle - I dropped the dough like I do cookies - except I used very large spoons. I will be keeping this recipe.

oh, and I let Mr. Tesha do the frosting....

5. Memories.
My mother always used to make them for Good Friday. Easter was the time for onion-skin boiled eggs and streusel coffee cake. :)
