What's for dinner? ~ Wednesday April 15th Edition
Edited on Wed Apr-15-09 02:26 AM by Lucinda
I'm getting an early start on this since I'm still up.

If Bill has to work late, I'll be having Liver and Onions and some veggies.
If he manages to make it home for dinner I might have hot roast beef sandwiches with him and make the liver for lunch the next day.

I'd like him to be home, but I'm hoping for the liver. :)

4. AALette's choice
Tonight she wanted fish sticks, Kraft Mac & Cheese, and carrots which I cook in the mic then melt a little butter and add salt and dill weed. I also baked a loaf of Ain5 bread from my new batch. It was even better than last time! Of course I figures out that the first time I made it I only used 6 C of flour instead of 6 1/2. Amazing what a half cup of flour will do, LOL!

I am also getting the hang of forming the loaf. I decided to try it like the people who make mozzarella cheese. I grabbed a glob and pulled it off from under the bottom. Worked like a charm!

5. Sauteed chicken, mushrooms and shallots in a parmesan cream/wine sauce over penne
The alfredo-alike sauce also had garlic and onions, of course. I threw some sliced olives and grape tomatoes in there at the end, too.

I'm stuffed. The cheese sauce was almost like a fondue poured over pasta and sauteed goodies...burp.

6. Lunch vs. dinner around here.
We are lazy bones retired folks and our eating schedules and sleeping schedules are off the norm.

Breakfast is usually just coffee whenever we get up. Maybe a cookie to dunk.

Lunch is usually our large meal. But we don't always like the same thing to eat. Sometimes we do. Gads, that is frustrating - he will never ever try anything new. The only thing things he is good at cooking are the basics.

Supper is catch as catch can.

I have a freezer full of one-dish meals to heat and heat - yikes - no leftovers for him. :-)

7. I'm gonna get kicked out of C & B for this....hotdogs!
The SO's having chili dogs. I'm having dogs with mustard and sauerkraut.

We'll probably eat salad too -- can't have a meal without green stuff.

8. If you get kicked off, I'll be right along!
We had a large sized Kraft M&C box in the cupboard that was calling. It said it served 6, but I don't know - that was huge.

I divided it up.

One small part turned into a really good tuna salad (tuna, spring onions, celery and Top the Tator sour cream w/chives. I think there were a few Spanish olives w/pimentos sliced.

One part got GOURMET(lol!) Omaha hot dogs sliced on the biased added to it.

One part had added leftover taco meat and salsa added to it - like a Tex-Mex goulash. Tasty!

I'm good to go on mac and cheese for quite awhile. I still froze one meal and one is still in the fridge. H

10. Shrimp salad
Screwed it up, though. The veggie/greens part with the carrot dressing was fine. I had a marinade of Vietnamese fish sauce, safflower oil, lemongrass, garlic, cilantro and (very unfortunately) lemon salt for the shrimp. Should have looked at the sodium content on the fish sauce first. Yikes! Salty overwhelmed everything.
