Idea- stuffed burgers?
If I ...

-sauteed some onions, peppers, etc
-Dried them very good
-Made a 1/2 pound hamburger patty
-dug out the center of patty
-added onions/peppers/etc
-covered the stuff with the meat I dug out making a good seal.
-panfried the burger...

Would it hold together of fall apart in the pan? I tried something similar before and ended up with Sloppy Joes :D

Just think of the possibilities!! Burger stuffed with jalapenos and orange pieces! :P

I got the idea from a "deep fried cheese-stuffed hamburger" thread in The Lounge

Anyone ever try this?

:hi:

1. Yes I stuff burgers all the time
Our favorite is the Saltin Burger --I add a bit of sage to the meat and a splash of Marsala wine. I stuff with provolone and Procuitto.

My daughter likes stuffed teryaki turkey burgers. I mix the turkey with Panko (Or sometimes just rice), teryaki sauce, sri racha and onion. I stuff with a pineapple ring.

The variations are endless. I've done blt burgers...stuffed with bacon and tomato and wrapped in lettuce leaves. Greek burgers stuffed with feta and olives. Pizza burgers with mozerella and pepperoni.

The trick is to not to be overly generous with your stuffings and to make sure they are securely sealed inside the meat.

I also stuff meatballs with those little squares of laughing cow cheese. They are a PITA to peel open but the meatballs are worth it. I peel the little squares and pop them in the freezer to get really cold and hard...This prevents oozing. Really any little squares of cheese will work...Just get it really cold before you make your balls.

4. My favorite stuffed burger
is made at a place on in the Castro in San Francisco. Stuffed with bleu cheese and topped with carmelized onions, on a roll that's almost a brioche, it's so good, I could just weep. The cheese melts just enough, and when you bite into it, your mouth gets hit with some many flavors, you just want to sing.

Naturally, it being the Castro, the burger is listed on the menu as "The Bleu Job"...............

5. I make mine like this.
Make two thin patties. Place your heart's desire onto one patty leaving a quarter inch or so around the edge, put the other on top and seal the edges. Stays together if the edges are pinched closed around the outside.

Have fun experimenting :hi:

11. Oh, those look absolutely perfect!!!!
Looks like you've found the secret of success. Yummy, absolutely yummy.

Your post got me to thinking, remembering that I used to get the BEST cheese-stuffed burgers when we'd stop at small taverns in small towns in Wisconsin on fishing/camping trips. Those babies were also very yummy, but the locals loved when an outlander - like we were - would bite into one of the "stuffed burgers" and leap right up in the air because the melted cheese was molten hot.

Very funny.

I found this: http://www.fbnr.com/Recipes/720/1820002720.htm

12. if you can find dried porcini mushrooms, rehydrate them and use them in those stuffed burgers
There's a taste affinity between the ground beef and the porcinis that will make your sox go up and down!

14. You must be physic............
Yesterday afternoon, I found a bag of dried porcini mushrooms in the pantry.

And now I know exactly what I'm going to do with them. Your suggestion sounds obscenely good .................
