Anyone ever have this happen?
Today, I fixed a batch of Orchid's Tangy Noodles, a really nice dish that's a warm weather favorite around here. They're so good.

And, a while later, the idea of even having them in the refrigerator - they reach peak flavor two days after preparation - just made me ill. I toyed with the notion of ditching them, but decided to leave them.

I honestly can't imagine taking even one bite.

This ever happen to you?

2. Sometimes, after cooking a big meal, I need to take a little break before I'm
able to sit down and enjoy it, but I've never had a reaction as strong as the one you describe.

3. Before answering this question,
I need to know just what, exactly, are Orchid's Tangy Noodles?

5. Here ya go -
I have always used Barbara Tropp's cookbook for these noodles - where I discovered them - but someone copied it (with attribution) to recipezaar.com, so here it is:

8. OK. First...
Yum!!! I will have to try this simple, yet yummy looking recipe. Thanks for the link!

Second, yes. I have prepared a dish that was to-die-for.... only to have the leftovers languish in the freezer...

But I always thought that was because I was single and most dishes I try are designed for six or eight people and after a serving or two, I'm ready to move on.

9. A hint -
Let them sit for a couple of days after you fix them - they really are best on the second day.

And let them come to room temperature. They're best like that, too.

And use more scallions. Lots and lots of scallions.

You'll love them.

I wonder if I'm ever going to crave them again.....................

4. Can't say that it has
But then, I've never even heard of Orchid's Tangy Noodles.

Can you elaborate on what you mean? Are these noodles notorious in some way? Or is it unrelated to the noodles per se, but rather a general effect?

6. See above ........
I just posted a link to the recipe, which is an old favorite.

No, the noodles are just yummy, that's all. It was me. Suddenly, something about eating macaroni just grossed me out. They were gone when I checked the refrigerator today, so someone was happy to find them, but, right now, I've stocked up on lots of fruit and my wonderful nutsonline.com order, and the idea of eating salads for the rest of the summer appeals to me.

It might just be a seasonal thing, a reaction to the newly-warm weather, but, I'll tell ya, I still feel the same repugnance, and it extended to breads and rice. Like a total white food meltdown.

This is new for me, too.

But, try the noddles. They are sensational ..............:hi:

7. Oh, ok, I see
I wish I would have that reaction, some sort of anti-carbohydrate reaction, like how Alex responded to violence in A Clockwork Orange.

So lucky for you someone already took them out, problem solved.

Thanks for the recipe, I'll stash it away...

11. Not to get too serious....
but...

sometimes a change in your tastebuds signals something's not quite right with your innards.

Just something to think about.

I'll think lots of healthy thoughts for you. :hi:

12. That could well be -
the mild chemotherapy I'm undergoing does have occasional side effects, but this repugnance is still with me. It's not like nausea or anything - more a mental event - the idea of eating pasta (or rice) just grosses me out.

You're sweet to think of this, and thanks for the healthy thoughts, but, honestly, I'm doing just fine.

For now, it's tons of designer salad greens with all different kinds of vinaigrette recipes. I'm experimenting, and having fun.......

14. I don't find it weird at all, but I'm strange so take that with a grain of salt.
I'm a protein/veggie hound as the weather heats up, to put it mildly. Carbs, any kind - but especially the refined ones - at that time of year make me kinda "ewww." There is only one instance when this is not true, so help me...when I am really sick, I can down pasta like there is no tomorrow. Fast energy, easy digestion? Dunno, but it's true for me.

But I do empathize...especially when really good spicing is involved (and I scoped the recipe and WILL make, though maybe when it's cooler LOL).

Hang in there...
