Do you read food blogs? How many? Which ones?
Just wondering how much time the average foodie spends reading food blogs.

Not recipe sites, but food blogs.

Any feedback here?

1. Does this one count?
If so, then I read one.

4. maybe I should clarify
I consider this to be a message board, not a blog. By blog, I mean a site written by one entity, with regular entries. Some of them carry advertising, some don't.

2. The worst time-sucker of all
I keep a tab open with Foodgawker, which leads me down far too many rabbit trails--almost none of which I would actually make. There is just something about food porn I cannot resist. :)

3. Not really.
I usually run into them while searching for recipes and there are some I enjoy over others but I generally don't hang around reading them.

5. I do check Smitten Kitten fairly regularly
But it's usually for the "Crack" recipe which I have been making far too often.

6. No I Stumble...

Stumbleupon has a feature that lets you just randomly go to a site that others have suggested. It can be a real time waster... but so fun!

I read the NYTimes Food section, and search Epicurous and other places, but no blogs regularly.

7. Not a blog but I also check e gullet several times a week
The PNW area has been really really slow so I haven't been participating there as much. Same with ChowHound.

9. I sometimes read eGullet's pastry & baking forum
It's a never-ending source of amazement as to what some of those folks can do! I love how they all build off of each other's efforts. And it's fun to watch how they can take a recipe and tweak and tweak it until it's absolutely great.

10. There are some really anal folks that post there
I'm not that interested in being that precise of a cook although I do understand for baking it's really important to measure. If I have to drag out all the weights and measures and obsess over every grain of flour I lose interest real quick. Lead me to the Bisquick thank you very much.

12. Yeah, baking is as much science as art
much more so than other types of cooking. Guess that's one thing that I love about it. To me, baking science is just fascinating. On the other hand, I'm not an artist of any sort so science is good for me. :)

interesting new things, much less photographing them. :)

Here are some I like:

11. I have a bunch that I enjoy so much -
Serious Eats, of course, and their adjuncts for pizza and burgers, plus their talk section. A wonderful, fun, informative site, and great people there who are happy to help out with any kind of cooking question. Mostly New York folks, it seems, so it's like home.

And Simply Recipes, which is absolutely GREAT!

http://www.101cookbooks.com/archives/001563.html - this one is terrific. I fixed her Dad's garlic bread last week, and, while it was fairly traditional, there was just enough of a twist to his instructions to keep it very interesting. A lovely site.

http://www.whiteonricecouple.com/ - this one is fun since I do a lot of Asian cooking, when I am so moved, and their posts are really informative and precise.

http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/ - I just read this for the writing. I don't know that any recipes have ever appealed to me, but I do love the way those folks toss the words around.

http://thursdaynightsmackdown.com/ - this one just might be the best food blog in existence.

This one is a classic and also just fun reading - http://www.epicurean.com/

Another gift from the UK, loving up the language and the recipes aren't bad, either - http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/food_and_drink/

Every blog on this list - http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/food_and_drink/article5238429.ece - especially Chocolate and Zucchini, which is fun and elegant and informative and inspiring, all the while being incredibly chic.

I have found some amazing recipes on this site - http://www.recipelink.com/index.html - including one for a carmelized chicken breast that's out of this world.

And this is another lovely Eastern recipe site - http://rasamalaysia.com/

This one - http://www.cookstr.com/ - and this one - http://www.foodista.com/ - are great search sites for recipes from everywhere and every time. Sometimes it strikes me as rather provincial, but then they'll have something so obscure, they just slay me.

My favorite late-night winding down ritual involves food sites - it's just fun............................................

14. Most of the blogs I read
are written by regular people who happen to love food, and have loved food all their lives.
