Got to use my own tomatoes
for the first time. Been making an all day Sunday Gravy and used three and a half pints of the tomatoes I've canned from our garden. Feels pretty darn good, too! :woohoo:

1. Good News, hw!
So they're ok? No grunge-spots (like on my new landlady's? She brought them over before the spots showed up!)

5. Grunge spot?
Not sure what that refers to. But there was nothing untoward about them at all. And the sauce came out just lovely.

2. I have a great crop this year
Mostly early girls and grapes. The few heirlooms were fabulous but few and far between. I have 4 beefsteaks still on the vine ripening. They didn't do that well either but I grew those in that topsy turvy thing. I've been roasting the extras as I go along and throwing them in baggies in the freezer. I think I have about 2 weeks of summer weather left before I cut my losses and start picking the green ones.

6. Wonderful that you've had such a good crop.
I'm making pies today and am considering another green tomato one.

9. Your harvest sounds like mine.
Lots of lovely wee tomatoes and almost no slicers. In addition to the wonky weather, I've had a greedy groundhog who's stolen several of my rare and precious Cherokee Purples.

7. What's holding you back, Stinks?
I would think having some lovely San Marzanos on the patio would be just the ticket for you.

4. Wonderful !!
I hear you on the "Feels pretty darn good" part.

I'm sooo tempted to use the tomatoes we canned already but I'm saving "feels good" for a cold day in January with some chili.

:hi:

8. I really needed them to make sauce for company
coming today, else they would still be there for a bit longer.

Enjoy yours, too, Inchie. :hi:
