Well now I'm addicted and so are the kids.
To Nutella that is.

On hot, homemade bread fresh out of the bread machine. I might as well tape the results directly to my thighs, but hoo boy it is good. I have had to up my running routine to three times a week to make up for it. Thanks H2S!

1. what took you so long to find out?
Nutella is just the best spread avaiable and very addictive. People have been seen just to spoon it. :)

2. LM (big fat) AO
Wildeyed, my dear .... you are ***soooooo**** very welcome! :)

Its so funny you mention that, just at this time.

At 4.30 today (it is now just about 5.00) I was feelin' a bit hungry. So I hauled my azz up to the kitchen and opened the cupboard. Smiling at me was a jar of Nutella. On the counter, fresh from Sparly's sojourn to the Safeway, was an unopened loaf of Sunmaid Raisin Bread (50% more raisins)!

It is soooo easy .... open up the bread .... get a spoon ..... schmear the brown, gooey spread on the bread ...... two slices? ..... oh hell ... make it three ........ lick the spoon ...... mmmmmmMMMMMM! ... just another spoonful to lick ..... who can it hurt? ...... eat the bread schmeared with it ...... repeat at least once daily ........

5. H2S and Running
He's been known to run toward a smoking area when he hasn't had one in awhile.

Occasionally he'll run toward a sale on copper pots.

He's been known to run for the remote when the Chimp starts speaking.

And of course, he runs upstairs from the office to the kitchen when I've made one of my famous Sparkly Vegetarian Bean Dishes.... Okay, not really -- he drags himself to the table after I call him six times... But I'm working on it.

is H2S is not exactly a health fanatic. He is a devil, though. Between the nutella and the new kitchen gadgets he tempts us all with...... I will be fatter and poorer, but much happier :D

I read it right here ... NutellaUSA has a patent on a new hydroelectic powered calorie extractor. The stuff is totally harmless.

Honest! Really! No foolin'!

My daughter warned me about Nutella. I've never tried it and she has forewarned me about it's addictive properties. Now I'm really tempted. :D

19. H2S, devil or clown.......
or just a devilish clown?

I am here to tell you, or at least my thighs are, nutella does not come with it's own calorie extractor. You have to get your own. Mine is the treadmill at the local YMCA.

And that nutella stuff, as addictive as crack cocaine, so be very careful with it.

21. You will start with just the sparest amount
gently swiped onto the bread. In a few days, you will be using a spoon tho gob it on and eating two and three slices at a sitting. But you will be telling yourself, I'm not addicted, I can stop anytime I want.

At the end, you will be eating it straight from the jar with just your fingers, smearing it all over your face while you make small animal-like noises and then stealing money from your kid's piggy bank to get more.

Maybe we can start our own online group of nutellas anonymous ;) I should probably go to ATA now and ask permission for the forum, before it is too late.

22. Ahhh, the memories.
Yes, I went through my Nutella addiction in the early 90s after a friend brought me some from Germany. However, it had to end when I ran out because it wasn't available locally, that I knew about, anyway. I got some more in 2000 when I went to Germany myself. When that jar was gone, I found it at World Market but I was able to keep my habit under control because I don't go there that often.

Alas, now they carry it at my local grocery. But I've kicked the habit -- or so I thought until THIS thread started! :D

When I'm lean and brown like Lance, I'll treat myself to some Nutella!

Has choco chips and everything. Choco bread with nutella, hmmmmmmm....... Sounds good.

I'm gonna feed it to my precinct organization group, get them all addicted so they have to keep coming to the meetings :9

Off subject, but why do all the kool kids have new smilies? You and H2S both have the little guy behind the wall. *I* don't have any new smilies. Did I miss the memo or something?

without posting the recipe! It simply isn't done!!!!

And if you look at the "Smilies lookup table" when you post or reply, you'll see new smilies that Skinner et al have added at the end of the list.

29. From my new book, "Rustic European Breads from your Bread Machine"

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0385477775/qid=1112533974/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/104-0956903-3169541

Pane Alla Cioccolata

for a 1 lb. loaf

1-1/4 tsp bread machine yeast
2-1/4 c bread flour
1/4 c sugar
3 tbl dutch process chocolate
3/4 tsp salt
3/4 c plus 1 tbl water
1 large egg yolk
1-1/2 tsp butter
1/2 c choco chips

You can bake it in the bread machine, or run it on dough cycle and bake it in a ball on a stone. Being lazy, I opted for the bread machine.

Use 'light crust' function if your machine has that option.

Smear choco chips on it immediately after removing from the machine. The chips will melt and give you a pretty glaze.

I haven't actually had any yet. Seemed a bit much for the AM. But I will let you know how it is later.

The book is very interesting. Many of the breads are made on dough cycle, then baked on a stone in the oven. Also lots of good ideas for adapting more advanced bread making techniques to the bread machine.

:woohoo: (ok, not 100% appropriate, but I wanted to use a new smilie.)
