Frozen puff pasty - what would you do?
I need to empty out my little freezer by the end of the weekend in preparation for a defrost and shopping trip.

I have a package of puff pastry - no sure why.

What would you do with it?

:hi:

1. Sausage Rolls
You might not be familiar with them in USA so here's what Wikipedia has to say. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sausage_roll

Spice the meat with herbs; sage, parsley. Finely chopped onion, black pepper. Roll up, brush with egg and bake.

3. Oh, my goodness, you're asking this in fruit season?
A mixed berry tart comes to mind, first of all. There are so many wonderful things to do with puff pastry, from turnovers to palmiers to puff pastry shells for creamed poultry or even chilled seafood salad to poor man's chocolate chip rugelach.

It's one of those things you can do endless variations with, sweet or savory. Or you can roll it out, cut it into triangles, and bake croissants for breakfast tomorrow.

I do sympathize. I've been eating out of the freezer for months because a glacier formed in the bottom of it. Finally everything, including the frozen puff pastry, fit into the little overflow "Costco freezer" and I managed to demolish the glacier today.

It was a decent gig for one of the first days of the first heat wave of the year.

Still, what to do with the puff pastry should be the least of your worries. If you decide to do shells for filling, you can bag them and freeze them when your freezer is up and running again.

5. Use it for a veggie strata
Layer it with some browned onions, spinach and cheese. If you can make creamed spinach even better. Asaparagus, brocolli or mushrooms works well as do just plain sliced potatoes.
