The dinner that is awaited all year long.
Edited on Wed Jun-30-10 06:26 PM by hippywife
Thick sliced smoked bacon sammiches, big fresh tomatoes and corn, both just picked this morning. :9

My boss let me come in a little bit late this morning so I could catch the mid-town, mid-week farmer's market. Chatted with friends and hauled home the tomatoes from my friend Stephen's farm, and two dozen ears of corn from another coop producer, both sell at this market, too. We had Luke's corn earlier in the week and it was unbelievable! The bacon is from my friend Wes' farm.

:hi:

1. Okay, I can relate to tomatoes and
bacon, but do you just put kernel corn on your sandwich too? I'm confused! ;-)

2. No. LOL
The corn was on the side with the bacon and tomato on the sandwiches. Sorry if I made it sound confusing.

4. OMG! I am truly blushing
now. Note to self: don't take things to literal. And in self-defense hippywife, I was tired when I read that - that's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

8. I wish I could taste some of that corn, too.
The corn I've gotten at the farmer's market here was great the first week and absolutely inedible due to toughness the second week. They haven't had it for sale since the second week which is odd for a summer standard like corn. You wouldn't mind being here on Saturday night, either. I'm making a Thai meal for some Okie pals in the neighborhood. I haven't decided on the menu yet, but I'm sure to get inspiration when I go to veggie shopping this afternoon. On the 4th we are going to a barbecue fundraiser for a young woman (under 30) who has breast cancer and no insurance.

Have fun this weekend, be safe and eat well! (I know you will!!)

9. Hey my friend
great combo. I just said we should go to farmers market in the morning for tomatoes. There is a local farmer who has corn gazebos all over the area..the best small kernel sweet corn around. Does your work serve fresh corn and tomatoes to the residents?
