Recipe Redux: Raspberry Vinegar, 1900

Raspberry vinegar, a syrup recipe that appeared in The Times in 1900, was made not for salads but for summer drinks.

1. I have a special place in my heart for those old-timey homemade beverages.

I make a switchel that is probably the flavor that early Cola manufacturers were aiming for.

The vinegar-based fruity drink I think they call "shrub".
