Please pray for my friend Eddie, who disappeared on Monday night.
Eddie is not the kind of guy to just take off and not tell anyone. He is probably the most contentious person I know; he is above board and very, very dependable. He was last seen around midnight on Monday having drinks with a friend (another very trustworthy man). Eddie is a good man, a long-term volunteer in the hurricane zone, a construction manager at a volunteer camp. Please say a prayer for his safe return.

3. Yes, a classic example of prayers being answered, but unsatisfactorily.
Turns out Eddie is a recovering crack addict. He hooked up with a known crack addict for a few days, hen stayed away a few more days before being found at a nearby Motel 6. He says he didn't do any drugs, that the stress of the job got to him and he needed some time away. He claims he was at the Motel 6 the whole time. I don't believe him. First of all, the Motel 6 is literally in walking distance from where he lived with other recovery workers. Secondly, I have a hard time believing he was just chumming around with crack addicts without actually doing anything. Thirdly, he certainly could have returned a call from any of us to his cell phone to just say he needed some time off, but he didn't. And finally, it takes a couple days to detox, so I think he was gone on a bender for 2-3 and then took another 2-3 days in case he had to take a drug test. So I'm glad he wasn't found dead in a ditch, but at the same time, I feel betrayed/hoaxed by a junkie. x(

Addiction is a horrible thing.
