You have to pry sometimes
I know it sounds cruel because our parents seemed to pry into our worlds when we were kids, and the last thing we want to be is our parents.Sure our kids are communicating at the speed of light, they are always talking,so now we really have to pry into thier lives to make sure they are okay.Don't stop ever asking about thier day,and when they reach that magic 10 age you would swear you were torturing them to devulge any imformation.
Who ever thought prying would be love ?

1. Parents have to!!
When my daughter was in middle school, I felt something was wrong. I read her diaries and she was suicidal. We got her counseling and are still dealing with this issue. My daughter has never forgiven me about the invasion of her privacy. I just don't know. I think we need to respect their privacy but invade it when we *know* we need to.

2. Lordy, I just went through this with my 7 year old.
"Incidents" with his best friend that he knew were no-nos, but it happened anyway.

All is resolved, friendship is intact, but it was traumatic for us all.

One thing we tend to forget is that our children NEED PROTECTION as much as they need freedom. Freedom comes from responsibility to use it wisely, and the kids just don't possess enough wisdom to know where to end it sometimes.
