The goddamn Flash transparency problem in Linux seems to be gone with Flash Player v10

Got it with my automatic updates (I include Adobe's YUM repository in my Fedora).

And lo and behold, the site of the cellphone operator I use (www.oiloja.com.br) now WORKS!

I haven't upgraded it yet. The last time I installed a flash player upgrade, I spent the next hour figuring out what the hell it did with my video settings. The script that installed it for some damn reason changed xorg.conf, and I have that thing tweaked rather precisely. Anyway ... bad memory, so I'm waiting until I have a block of time available for disaster recovery.

But if they fixed that problem, it'd be worth it.

Have they improved stability any? It crashes on me constantly. In casually trying to diagnose the symptoms that lead to the crash, I discovered that every time I open a PDF file in the browser, the flash player then crashes and requires a restart of the browser before it'll work again. It happens at times when I haven't opened a PDF also, but it happened with that seemingly every time. Like I said, it was a casual attempt. It's the same basic problem reported far and wide.

I'm running the AMD64 64-bit version of Ubuntu Hardy (I know, Intrepid Ibex is out, but I don't want to make the switch from KDE 3 to KDE 4 yet - KDE 4 still doesn't have some features and programs that KDE 3 has, and there are still a good deal of obnoxious bugs, especially with the new window management, the Compiz-style 3-D windows and its interactions with X and the Nvidia drivers. I'll wait another release or two before I upgrade to a KDE 4 version - wait until more of the kinks are worked out of KDE 4, and more functionality is implemented.

64-bit native Flash, and many of the annoying crashes that I've been dealing with have disappeared.

Bear in mind that Adobe has labeled this 64-bit Flash as alpha-quality, but it works for me far better than the 32-bit release versions.

And it works ... relatively well in fact, which is an enormous step up.

Performance issues are much improved, and I haven't had a seemingly random crash yet (4 days).
