Is this enough?
I've been using ZoneAlarm firewall, but it is seriously slowing down my computer and I have a gig and a half of ram.

I'm thinking of removing Zonealarm and just using the windows firewall. I'm also behind a router. Will that be enough protection?

Thanks.

1. Get rid of Zone Alarm
Get Comodo. Leaner, meaner and uses a lot less resources.

3. I second this rec for Comodo
I had to abandone ZA after many years of faithful satisfied use, it just got too hoggish or something.

And I'd also say turn off Win firewall, just use Comodo.

2. You are probablyadequately protected behind the router and Win firewall
you can use the snapin for the firewall and tweak it as well, if you want.

4. Are you running Vista or XP?
The reason I ask is that the Windows Firewall in XP only blocks incoming. If somehow your computer is compromised (via a website that installs malware on your computer) and the computer tries to send your personal information out, the Windows firewall won't block it or notify you that another program is running that you might not know about.

The Windows firewall in Vista, though, (I'm told) does block outgoing messages and give you alerts. If running Vista the Windows firewall should be enough.

Or, take the advice of others and switch to the leaner, meaner Comodo Firewall. I've used it and liked it.

5. Vista doesn't do it by default
but you can load the mmc snap in and configure it.
