Any comments on Octave under Windows 2000 vs Windows XP vs Windows Lindux vs latest Mac OS X?

I apologize for being presumptuous. In my line of work I never ran into a need for advanced computations. What do you use it for? Is there any real concern for how it works on one OS versus another?

The mathematical results should be the same in any OS. The graphical representation may be different though. If you want to compare graphical output let me know, I have Windows XP.

I suppose that abstractly you're right: there shouldn't be any difference. But in reality there might be

Ultimately I may try some and/or all of these installs: that will require me to read a bunch of boring tech manual stuff to guess which are possible, which are reliable, etc etc, so I threw the question onto the board to see if anybody had any advice
