DOA?
Yesterday morning my son woke up to his computer going haywire. The amber light below the power button was flashing on and off really fast and it wouldn't boot up. We unplugged it and I tried reseating the RAM but no luck. Now nothing is happening. No amber light, no power up, no nothing. I feel the fan come on when I plug it in, so I don't think it's the power supply.

My son is so disappointed. The system is about 4 years old and I bought it used off craigslist about 5 months ago. I was hoping it would last longer than this. I know it's not a tragedy in the grand scheme of things, I just hate seeing him so sad about it. He was so proud of having "his" computer.

I'm afraid it's probably kaput. Someone please tell me the magical incantations to say to bring it back. :D

Thanks for any and all help.

1. It could still be the power supply.
Any way you could try a replacement?

2. Sounds like a Power Supply to me.
What are the system specs on the machine. Post them(Processor, RAM, Hard drives, and whatnot) and I will recommend something for you.

3. Matter of fact, here:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139003

Unless this is a really high-end gaming system, this should be quite sufficient.

4. I pulled a power supply out of another system
same results. No power up. Could it be the processor?

5. No, doubt it.
Most likely the power section of the motherboard. What processor is in the machine?
