Disk imaging software
Hi, Does anyone know of any open source (free) disk imaging software, something that preferably could be installed on computers with different hardware configurations?

Almost everything seems to be free these days, so I thought I'd give it a shot.

1. What are you trying to do?
Make images of entire hard drives? CDs? DVDs?

Which Operating System? Windows XP? Vista?

At work we have these demo laptops which involve lengthy product installs and everyone messes them up, so it would be nice to have an image we can just slap back on to keep them all the same. We're using Windows XP unfortunately, wish it were Vista.

I know most imaging apps are cheap, like $40 or less, but so much is open source these days.

3. BartPE
WinPE and ImageX are free tools from Microsoft that will make and deploy images of XP and Vista. It is not very user friendly, all command line. http://www.svrops.com/svrops/articles/sysprepvista.htm

BartPE is a great tool but you need to build the disk with a licensed version of Ghost to make images with it. It will not work with Vista. http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/
