Anyone familiar with Sophos anti-rootkit software?
I was looking for a good rootkit detector and it was recommended to me. Is it inclusive, or do I need to supplement with other software to be thorough? Has anyone had any experience with it?

1. Just my opinion but....
It would help to get a description of the actual problem. That way people will know what kind of feeedback to give you.

2. It is not comprehensive...
You must still use a good anti-virus program, anti-spyware utilities and a firewall. Sophos offers an all-in-one package called Endpoint Security and Control that includes the anti-rootkit with the anti-virus etc. I have no personal experience with it though so I can't recommend it either way. http://www.sophos.com/products/enterprise/endpoint/security-and-control/8.0/

3. I just had a pretty good experience with
Greatis's Reanimator. It takes a bit of basic know-how to operate ( Conversely, there is also an alternate way to run it where you send a report to their techs and they send a personalized virus/trojan/rootkit killer back to you, if you don't feel up to manually deleting bits of your registry) but it solved a problem with a trojan and rootkit that nothing else was either able to detect (malwarebytes, search and destroy)or remove (avast antivirus).

When I had asked for help on this problem on another board both Reanimator and Sophos were recommended. Reanimator is free, I don't know about Sophis.

Check out the reviews on places like Major Geeks. I've learned a lot just going thru sites like that (and picked up some great freeware as well!)
