How does one get the Youtube video to appear in a post rather than just the link?

1. On DU?

You have to post the video in the Political Videos forum. When you click Post, all else becomes clear. You just add the URL to the field it presents.

Other than that, you can't. This is a function of the forum software. It is done via an <object> html tag, which is how it would be done in a website/blog, but for posts, this sort of thing has to be allowed and implemented by the people who administer the forum because you can't just put raw html code into a post. (The html we're allowed to use is also explicitly implemented by the admins.)

2. The website needs to be configured to allow video links.
DU does this in its Political Videos forum, but not the other forums, where only the URL will be shown.
