stupid question - what is this feature called?

If you go to this link you'll see a website template, and there is a "video" feature. Actually it's just two images that fade back and forth. What's that called? I want to search for free ways of creating a similar showcase spot. Thanks. :)

2. CSS opacity filter
with Javascript to control the transparency for the fade-in-out effect. The site is using a widget in the jQuery library for the Javascript -- in other words, it's not hand-rolled script, but a readymade solution for those sorts of effects.

5. Here's the one they're using
http://www.gruppo4.com/~tobia/cross-slide.shtml

You'll need to couple it with jQuery to work. There are tutorials for applying it at the site.

You can also have a look at the iThemes source at around line 82 to see how they've used it.

6. The way I know to do that kind of image is with a morphing program..
The freeware program I'm familiar with to do this is SqirlzMorph.
