Some vital techie utility proggie download sites
Edited on Wed Nov-17-04 03:10 PM by Prisoner_Number_Six
A few vital techie utility download sites (some most useful if you use a high-speed connection for the downloads, as they can be BIG.) I use all of these utilities on a regular basis, and they save a TON of time and effort. And they are ALL freeware downloads. Just burn 'em to a cd and put 'em into your kit.
------

A techie-oriented free download for updating all XP security patches at one time (Note: this is a cd-sized download)
http://www.autopatcher.com/

Technique for downloading the FULL IE6 package for ALL Windows operating systems (Note: This can be a cd-sized download if you choose all options)

Unknown Device Identifier (freeware utility to identify all physical devices on a Windows machine so you can track down the correct drivers- works in Win9x through XP)
http://www.voodoofiles.com/11892

The Belarc Advisor (freeware utility- The Belarc Advisor builds a detailed profile of your installed software and hardware, including Microsoft Hotfixes, and displays the results in your Web browser.)

MSCONFIG XP (The XP version of the Windows utility- can be used on Win2K also (for some reason they took it out of the 2K release, then put it back in XP))

Bootdisk.com has self-extracting images of all Windows and MS-Dos boot disks. Free downloads. This site also contains other techie-oriented utility downloads and links.
