forward & backward browser button keeps clicking through....
Edited on Wed Feb-10-10 03:05 PM by Historic NY
Yeah I know I have AOL but I use Firefox and Mozalla too. Lately I've had problems with the Explorer browser forward and backward button. Soemtimes my mouse seems like its either not clicking correctly or not clicking at all. I was having a highlight problem but I've seem to resolve that. I've tried various settings to no avail. I did a complete IE explorer reset but still have not been able to resolve the multiple clicking on the browser. I don't know if its some other problem but nothing seems out of order.

Example I'm on DU and I read a page and want to go back to a previous page when I click on the backward button it keeps going same thing with going forward. Its making reading forums dfficult.
I'd switch over completely but I have so many favorites that I regularly use.

any suggestion on settings.

I've run all my checkers including Trend Micro and there is no sign of bots, or virus or trojans.

1. Several possibilities: defective mouse, lite on memory, lite on cache memory.
The mouse may need replacing or the features in the control panel may need adjusting. Many do not know that you can fine tune the mouse from the mouse icon in the control panel, you can set it for left or right hand use, speed of double click needed, speed of movement, etc.

Memory usage may be lite. Not enough for the amount of objects in use. Too many things initialized at bootup and never used.

Browser cache set too low. The defaults are set unrealistic low. With the advent of flash adverts which are now short videos, cache should be set to about 400 MB(bigger is not better). Need enough to prevent swapping but not too big to start filling the HD. This is probably your problem. Each browser needs to be set because each has its own cache.

I don't know what the AOL means except they were designed for dial-up and you don't need it any more. They are trying to go out of business and Time Warner split them off as a separate corp because no one would buy them.

2. I increased the cache actually I have Road Runner broadband...
which formerly was AOL's but changed over to Time Warner when they split. I kept it because TW was stuck with the AOL contracts then. I thought the old broadband was faster. I will see if this change works. I did clean the mouse some weeks back and follow a diagram for assemble and reassembly.

3. Check out with a new mouse or borrow one to test also checkout your memory here
link:<http://www.memoryx.net/> just put in your make and model and it will tell max and how many memory slots your machine has. Also you can click on scan.
