Looking for the Best Graphing Software

I do a ton of numbers and graphs for my job, which involves internal reporting and data validation for phone company plans.

Excel creates passable basic graphs, but there are many, many things it can't do. I am always running up against the limits. Not so much in the appearance as in the basic presentation of data.

For example, some packages seem to allow an xy scattergraph in which the size of the data point varies with magnitude (a bubble graph, I believe it's called). This is just an example -- I mostly do line graphs.

Are there more sophisticated graphic packages out there? I don't have any experience beyond Microsoft Office.
