What could be causing this?

Is this a blip in my computer or in DU?

Here is what is happening. It's not serious, but annoying.

When I am in GD and click to open a thread in "View All" mode, I see the big tree of post titles first and the actual replies underneath. then i click on a post title, which takes me down to the individual post I want to read. I used to be able to use my back button then to return to the tree and maybe click on another post title. Instead of taking me back to the tree, clicking the back button one time now takes me all the way back to the GD page listing all threads.

Does anyone have an idea of why this is happening and what I can do to stop it? It is not happening on any other website, so it's not a matter of the back button's sticking or clicking twice.

Are you running a script blocker? Is DU on the whitelist? Any unusual extensions?

I closed the browser and went back in once, and it was still doing it. Then I left the computer for awhile and entered DU again, and it seems to have stopped.

I don't really even understand what running a script means, but I do occasionally get messages that a script is interfering with something and asking me if I want to keep running it. I always click no.

I don't know what a white list is.

My list of add-ons and extensions for IE8 (please don't scold me for using IE!) includes Web of Trust, Web of Trust helper, Adobe Shockwave Flash Object, Adobe PDF Link Helper, and Java PlugIn 2 SSV Helper. I don't know what I actually need.

I have had some buggy behavior including menus flashing and disappearing instead of staying up when clicked and a USB port that sometimes doesn't work. Also, the behavior that has been driving me crazy is that the mouse seems to go into clicklock mode all by itself at times, scrolling down pages and highlighting or even moving pieces of text i am typing. I have run a lot of scans (panda, malwarebytes, superantispyware) and everything seems clean. I also had some more serious things going on last month (long black screen while Windows was loading), and someone told me that my very old hard drive is probably starting to fail.

Thank you for answering my post. It's not happening anymore, so I'm fine, but if you have any ideas about what might have been wrong I'd be grateful to hear them just out of curiosity.

A script blocker gives you control over which programs are allowed and which ones are not. Scripts that are allowed are added to a white list and ones that are disallowed are black-listed.

Do I already have one? Is that what was sending me the messages before?

If I do have one, how do I find it, and how do I see the black and white lists?

Once installed a little icon will be added to your status bar. Clicking will bring up a list of scripts that the sight wishes to download. You can allow or disallow them either individually or en mass. It will remember those settings for future visits. It's a little bit of a pain to get it set up at first but I believe that it's worth it.

It looks like IE8 has added a version of this, but not as sophisticated as Firefox's.

For example the scroll wheel changed text size instead of page scrolling, or tabs are just dead. Restarting the browser usually fixes it.

The clicklock thing is very intermittent, but it's extremely annoying when it happens. I haven't been able to tie it to any particular situations.
