Sometimes you just need to delete those temp files manually
Windoze XP internet performance/browser performance trouble?

If you have checked out your actual internet connection and its ok:

test here: www.speedtest.net

you can try the disk cleanup tool on your system drive (C). Don't select compress files though. If after running it once, you run a second time and you still see a lot of temporary internet files indicated (1,000's of KB). Then select that line in the list and click the view files button. Select all folders/files except for the .dat file. Hold down the shift key and press delete key.

You might also want to do manual delete of the java cached files using the java control panel found in the control panel.

Another good tuneup to do right after this, is to defrag the system drive.

Happy surfing.

Also CCleaner: install the "Slim" version, no bundled crap/spyware/toolbars/home page Hijack/etc... users should stay clear of the registry cleaner unless they know what they're doing. Download link for "slim" version at bottom of the builds page: http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds

Remember, sometimes ya gotta just K.I.S.S. it! :hi:

Thanks for the link to speedtest.net, I haven't checked my laptop in ages, gonna do that when I get home.

4. i have learned where all my apps hide temp files.
not everything uses the Temp or Temporary Internet folders. Some create a temp folder withing their program files.
