Skype gone bad?
You may have seen this thread in GD about junk-ware being installed by Skype. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=439&topic_id=1198525&mesg_id=1198525

I've never been a real fan of Skype and would like to find an alternative softphone that is simple, non-intrusive and easy to set up. I'm not interested in trawling the net for 'friends', just something that I'm happy to get less experienced people to install and use in lieu of Skype.

I've found this one:http://www.mondotalk.com
The client is very simple, installs easily and sets up your account on installation. You are assigned a number and password instead of a Skype name.

Anyone here up for testing this and other softphones so we can report the findings back to the rest of DU?

1. IIRC, Yahoo IM had a video/audio call feature
You can't call landlines like with Skype, but you could to a YIM-to-YIM A/V chat.
