Cannot access a website despite troubleshooting....
Edited on Tue Oct-11-11 05:24 PM by steve2470
Hello all and thank you in advance for your help,

This is the website I cannot login to: https://www.sccu.com
I am able to see it perfectly, but I cannot for the life of me login to it. Their help desk reports NO login attempts at all, which astounds me. I have tried on multiple occasions to login, and the credit union teller logged in earlier today.

What I have done so far:

1- Called the help desk for the site and spent 45 minutes trying different options. The Help Desk and a credit union branch teller are both able to login using my username and password. Yes, I am changing both as soon as I get "permanent access".

2- Reinstalled Firefox, Opera and Chrome to see if this would help.

3- Used Windows XP SP3

4- Used MSIE 9 and FF 6.0.2 with all suggested cookies settings. The help desk says IE9 is compatible with their site, as is FF 6.0.2.

5- Connected directly to the internet without a firewall. Reconnected the firewall immediately thereafter.

6- Used a DMZ in my firewall, no luck.

7- Totally nuked all hard drives connected to my home network, and reinstalled fresh copies of the respective OS'es. Prior to this, ran a virus scan of all drives, with nothing coming up.

8- Checked, re-checked and triple-checked myself to make sure I am typing exactly the right letters and numbers with NO spaces in the exactly correct case. Confirmed with the CU that yes, I do indeed have the correct username and password.

A possibility I thought of is, an infection in my router or my cable modem ?

Again, it astounds me the CU is not showing any login attempts by me.

Should I call my ISP ? Help !

Thanks, Steve

1. Did you see this?
On their website

"IMPORTANT NOTICE: Due to system maintenance, Online Banking will be unavailable from 11:00 PM on Wednesday, October 12 until 3:00 AM on Thursday, October 13. "

Don't know if this has any effect on you. Otherwise it's a mystery.

2. yes I did
That notice was there earlier today also. The help desk guy kept saying it was my settings. I did everything he asked me to do, to no avail.

The help desk says the very new date of my account opening has nothing to do with my problems.

I'm at my wits end.

4. MYSTERY SOLVED WOOOOHOOOO !
Yes I'm excited lol

Ok... my credit union wrote down my USERNAME incorrectly....it was ONE letter off and in addition to my correct last name, a very common misspelling of my last name.

The password was correct.

When I called tech support, they were using my username spelling with the additional letter, whereas I was using the username they wrote down for me (which has my last name spelled correctly).

Convoluted, I know.... but... THEIR error, because I was using the username THEY gave me and wrote down twice.

Bright House Level Two tech FTW !......... now off to change the username and password.

My last name has two sets of double letters and is constantly misspelled.

Glad you got it sorted. :)
