Help with micro trend titanium
This program just will NOT uninstall. Used their diagnostic toolkit to uninstall, did a registry clean with CCleaner and McAfee says it still can't install because it's still there.

Help!!! Please.

1. Don't know the program
But maybe it installs and runs a system service that you can't shut down. AVG and Avast both do this, so does Nortons.

2. So what do you do about it?
Edited on Wed Oct-19-11 01:34 PM by ohheckyeah
This majorly sucks.

It never showed up in the control panel list or even in the program files in the c drive.

What the hell?

3. Control panel > administrative tools
Then services, or go to Run box and type is services.msc. Then you'll need to trawl through the list for likely services and disable them if you can.

Out of interest I just Googled 'Trend Micro Removal Tool' and there are a heap of hits so maybe you should start with that.

4. Yeah, I already did and none of their
solutions worked. I'm trying to help my sister with this over the phone and we've tried everything I could find with a Google search.

Thanks for your help!

5. Try this tool: AppRemover by OPSWAT
Edited on Wed Oct-19-11 03:18 PM by Earth Bound Misfit
It lists 7 products by Trend Micro but not "Titanium" (never heard of it)

http://www.appremover.com/supported-applications

AppRemover fully supports the thorough uninstallation of hundreds of antivirus and antispyware applications. The following support chart is updated with each new release. The chart lists two different types of supported applications. One set has been verified by OPSWAT Labs testing. The other set lists applications that have been reported as supported by the hundreds of thousands of users that have previously downloaded AppRemover. After using AppRemover, please take a moment to answer a few brief questions about the product. Your feedback will greatly improve AppRemover's effectiveness.

Might take about 15-20 mins to do a "deep scan"--it removed some OEM pre-installed trial offer crud from my laptop that was fighting with my Avast & firewall.

If still no joy, try "My Uninstaller" by NirSoft (Nir Sofer) http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/myuninst.html

MyUninstaller is an alternative uninstaller utility to the standard Add/Remove applet of Windows operating system. It displays the list of all installed application, and allows you to uninstall an application, delete an uninstall entry, and save the list of all installed applications into a text file or HTML file.
MyUninstaller also provides additional information for most installed applications that the standard Add/Remove applet doesn't display: product name, company, version, uninstall string, installation folder and more.

8. Thank you very much.
We will try these. Trend Micro sucks. Lots of people are having issues uninstalling it and that's just ridiculous.

13. Thank you .....
my sister is out right now but when she gets home I'll have her download that and run it. I'm hoping it will work. She's only had the laptop a year and she's bummed out....as I would be.

I had a similar problem one time with Norton and since then have used McAfee. I usually buy a new disc for McAfee because Buy.com has it for $14.00 for a 3 license deal and I uninstall the old version of McAfee before loading the new one and I've never had problems with that.

I soooooooooooooo HATE trend micro right now.

7. This really isn't about
McAfee but at least McAfee lets you uninstall it completely and I've never had a problem with McAfee unlike many other virus programs. Yeah, it may not be the coolest thing to use but it's worked great for me for years.

9. How did you end up with Trend? Was/is this pre-installed on a new comp?
Edited on Wed Oct-19-11 04:06 PM by Earth Bound Misfit
No offense intended re the McAfee wisecrack, I too don't care about "the lastest coolest"--Avast Free has worked for me for years & I'll ride 'er til she bucks me.

12. Actually it's my sister's computer
and she called me for help. When she bought the computer BestBuy gave her a choice of a couple of virus programs that she'd never heard of and she, unfortunately, chose this dog of a program. I did all of the things that the Google results recommended, most of them before I even read them. I knew to try Revo Uninstaller and to run CCleaner. We even ran a Malwarebytes scan. Nada. We finally downloaded the Trend Micro tool and while it said it uninstalled it there is something that's been left behind. We looked in the Program Files and nothing is there that I can find. GRRRRRRRRRRRR I hate companies that put out intentionally crappy software trying to make you renew with them.

No problem...guess I'm just a little sensitive about people dogging me for using McAfee. BUT it gets great results at ShieldsUp! and I've never had any problems.

18. On revisiting your post
to see if you have found a solution, I have a couple of thoughts.

1. In attempting to remove the program, maybe your sister has deleted the uninstaller. It may be worth a try to re-install the whole thing then start from scratch, either using Revo or a removal tool.

2. Can it be disabled in Windows Startup? Run > type 'msconfig' > Startup tab, disable via check box.
