I have a D-Link NAS with 2 2TB drives in a RAID-1 configuration. I keep all my media on it (virtually all downloaded TV shows ). It has a UPnP set up and is hardwired to my router.
I use my PS3 to play these videos and watch them on the TV machine. It usually works just fine; there are a few files it simply won't read, probably due to codec issues.
This has happened once or twice before, but lately, we can't watch a show for more than 2 to 3 minutes without being kicked back out to the menu with the message that the file doesn't exist anymore. Thing is, the file is right there, and I can hit play without issue and start it up again.
I'm particularly pissed about one possible solution: A tech with DLink told me a while back I should just upgrade my firmware, but (here's what pisses me off), I need to back up all my data or I may lose it during the upgrade.
So, apparently, I need a third hard drive to back up my dual back up. Whut?
Any ideas? Was the tech just giving me a worst case scenario that likely won't happen? I have a full terabyte of stuff on there, some of which was extraordinarily difficult to find and download. But burning a TB would take ages.
