Firewire connection to printer is not recognised.

This is on XP-home.

Under Device Manager, the 1394 Host Controller shows a "1394 Net Adapter" which is driven by nic1394.sys, and nothing else. I'm assuming the printer has no interest in internet protocols, and wonder if I need to disable the "Net Adapter," which uses TCP/IP, and/or add something else. It is quite happy to sit there connected, even with zero traffic. (Just disabling it doesn't seem to help.)

When I look at the available ports, LPT1, USB and all show up but no 1394 port, or I could just manually assign it to 1394.

Any hints? I can just use USB, which will likely work ok, but I only have one cable so it's a pain, not to mention the waste of a 1394 port.

and restart. If the hardware install wizard doesn't start when you're back up, manually install using the Install New Hardware in Control Panel.

I've got ir running via USB, and want to play with it for a while and see if I can get all the color management issues resolved. I'll delete it and recable and give it a try tomorrow. Much appreciated.
