But Bart is a fighter and I could not live with myself if I didn't fight on his behalf. We decided on a course of oral antibiotics twice a day. It's a tall order because Bart was a breeder before he came into our care in 1989 and handling him is like wrassling a small gator. After the first week, he actually regained all the weight plus brought a 1 gm friend along!
Today at the end of the second week, he has gained another 1.5 gm! His eye is looking better but we are going to continue another 4 weeks of treatment.
I have no expectations that he will live forever, but I am so glad I took the advice of all the kind people here and followed by my heart. Bart is quacking again and making all kinds of noise, doing his Stevie Wonder impression rocking on the perch, and I am beyond delighted.
Thanks guys for the words of advice and encouragement. Our hearts become one with our furry and feathered friends as we make this journey through life together.
Cheers.
