Edited on Fri Apr-11-08 06:15 PM by MagickMuffin
These are my feral kitties I tamed to be the most loving kitties I've ever had the pleasure to give a loving home.

2. They look loved and loving
How are they around strangers?
Have you ever traveled with them? I'm wondering how a former feral cat acts when outside of its comfort zone.

4. Well they are Loved and VERY Loving
So, far they haven't been around a lot of strangers, but the one person they were around one of our friends and were a little put off.

Inuyasha went to the shelter to get neutered and he did extremely well. A month later took the girls in to get spayed, which was a longer trip, they also did extremely well. They just rode in their carriers and didn't make a sound. I made sure to inform the Clinic that they were feral and was worried about Kagome because she was a sickly kittie, the lady asked if we wanted to give her a FeLV test, we didn't have the money for it, so the lady told me she would give it to her for free.

When I had 3 other males I had to get neutered they meowed the whole way.

I have 2 other house cats and they didn't like them at first, but one Kilala is coming around and licking them. Kilala is another kittie we rescued from my in laws house.

Sateeva was givin' to us by our neighbor, and she has issues, we've had her for 8 years and she still doesn't like us much.

My feral kitties are now house cats, and they are really well behaved, although they do love to chase each other around.

You can read more about them here: There's also a pic of Kilala.

10. I have a former feral cat and she has never been good around strangers.
She was just a few weeks old when I got her and it took several weeks before she would actually come to me. She's quite lovable with me and is moderately friendly with a few people, but she will generally disappear when strangers are around. I live by myself so she hasn't had much opportunity to get really close to anyone else. She is 7 years old now so I don't expect much change in her disposition now. I've never traveled with her, but use a travel crate for trips to the vet which don't seem to be really traumatic for her.

6. Beautiful kitties!
Congratulations on turning them around. You have proven yourself trustworthy (to them!). I can think of nothing more satisfying than saving lives and making homes for the homeless no matter what species. You are a good kitty mommy. Scritches to your babies.

They are beauties!

I have three formerly feral cats and you would never know it...feral cats can indeed be domesticated into wonderful pets. I wouldn't trade mine for anything!
