Devious kitty....she is now 15 and thinks she can sample anything on the counter
I turned around yesterday, and she was licking my stick of butter I had out while cooking a dinner for my family. There were kitty tongue prints all over it.

My coffee in the morning, not safe anymore....she has to sample it. Yogurt, same way.

If I have freshly made chicken, she samples that, too.

She never did this sort of thing before, but since she is up in age, I dont punish her.

1. I never leave butter out any more.
Sometimes I would forget and then I'd always find tongue prints on it.

I also had a cat who liked bread. If I didn't put the bread away he'd tear a hole in the plastic bag and gnaw big chunks out of the bread. And one of my current cats stole a whole pork chop right off my plate when I wasn't looking.

2. Hey, if it's out, it's fair game, right?
Ex-partner and I had an agreement with our cats that if it hit the floor, it was legally theirs.
This also applied to plates if we were eating in the living room. Had to warn guests eating in the LR NOT to put their plates on the floor but to use the coffee table unless they were finished.

One guy didn't listen...lost a rather large piece of venison that way.

Reading the above...we DO tend to run a very informal household, don't we...

3. I'll never forget the time
Pad Thai jumped on the counter and stole a chicken wing right off the chicken that was cooling.

There is a reason they created covered butter dishes, you should invest in one.

4. You mean you don't think Pad Thai wasn't just admiring the tablecloth?
Then again, what is alittle cat spit among friends?

5. Devious = Feline. :D
If I do not want my cats to get to something it stays in my refrigerator or in my oven. These have become my new "countertops" in order to protect my food.

6. Same here. I have to put everything in the fridge or inside
the oven or microwave to keep the little kitchen sharks from over-feeding. I also had to buy a butter dish with a lid. Even then, my cat Lola has climbed on the top of the refrigerator, gotten a bag of cat treats, and very nearly clawed her way inside of it. I need to get a canister to put them in.

7. Wrigley gnaws on bananas
I must put them on top of the refrigerator to keep him away from them. If he gets to them, they look like a vampire has been at work. I asked the vet if he was potassium deficient. She said no, her cat does the same thing to cantalope!
