Kitteh -- allergic reaction to spot flea control?
I used something like Advantage or Frontline on my beautiful boy a couple of weeks
ago. Now all of the hair on the back of his neck is coming out in clumps. And he
just seems thrilled as pie to have me pull out the rest so new hair can grow there.

He seems fine otherwise, so should I just chalk it up to a site-specific reaction?

Thanks.

Here's him sitting on my chest posing for teh self-portrait.

1. Possibly. Maybe just wait, see if the fur grows back and there's no irritation.
He's a beautiful cat.

2. Was it "bio-spot" or one of those other non-prescription knock offs?
that stuff nearly killed my mother's cat, and I've known other people whose cats had violent allergic reactions to it. Advantage and Frontline are a different formula, and generally don't cause the reaction you've described.

3. Although that may be true..
to a greater extent, I used Advantage on all of my guys and one cat had a site specific reaction similar to the OP's cat. I agree about "bio-spot" however, as I've heard of some very bad reactions to that product.

4. One of my fosters had a reaction to Frontline.
All the hair came out in a spot about the size of a quarter. It didn't get a sore or anything.... just no hair. He didn't seem to be in any pain, and it grew back just fine.
