Need advice for behavioral issues...AGAIN...
:hi:
It's been wicked cold here the last few days...I'm talking single digits and below with snow on the ground.
My boy furkids want to go OUTSIDE NOW...until they hit the door and that frigid air hits their delicate little noses...then not so much, they'll stay inside, thanks.
EXCEPT...they're getting squirrelly. Inappropriate peeing (and I scoop the litterboxes 2X daily), Riktor targets Finnegan, Wimsey targets Riktor- and it isn't "come play with me"...Wimsey and Finn play together (as do Esme and Finnegan) and the dynamics are totally different.

They are used to being indoor-outdoor cats and THEY ARE BORED OUT OF THEIR FURRY LITTLE SKULLS :banghead:...and I don't know what to do for them.

I've asked my vet to mix up one of her Bach flower remedies to help them cope with this...but think it's going to need more than that.

What did I do last year? Finn wasn't born yet, and I let Riktor, Wimsey and MacFeegle (who crossed the Bridge last February) go out...
we had a pretty mild winter for the most part.

1. How about some new toys or cat tree? Have you given them some catnip to mellow them
out? Maybe some birdseed near your window will give them something to watch for a while..

2. I give them catnip fairly often...
...not on a 'regular' basis but it works out to about twice a week.
They recognize the jar in which it's kept and get quite excited when it makes an appearance. :bounce:

Cat tree...been thinking about that for a while now and will look into that.
The one they have now is frankly BORING...3 sections of carpeted PVC pipe stacked at right angles with connecting holes and a trough on top. They need something to play "George of the Jungle" on...
right now they're tearing around the house, knocking things over...

...help...

5. My brother took a
piece of wood, like a fence post, 3"x 8ft (I think) (he rescued a barn cat)... Squirt was such a cool cat, but he had a wild side to him that needed to vented, on a tight budget, my brother took the wood, wrapped rope around it, (must make sure the rope is tight and secure on the wood he used a strong glue as I recall), he then placed it leaning on a wall in the house that Squirt could do a mad rush up to the top, all over, that thing but loved sitting on the top finally! Squirt loved that and was easy/fast to do. That was one cool cat!
