Seeing double; the Noir brothers (new fosters)!
Not long after Atticus Pye passed away my friends Joel and Amy called me asking for help. Two fluffy black kittens were camped out on their front porch and would not leave! It was eerie, considering how much they looked like Pye (just bigger-more like St. Bernards instead of salukis). Naturally I couldn't refuse and I took them home. I named them Guy Noir and William Chat-Noir. They had a HORRIBLE case of fleas that required several flea baths, plus the worst case of coccidia I've ever seen. Amy's dad said that he would take them; he's retired and is home alone all day, so they'll like that. They're incredible attached to one another; William is constantly headbutting Guy, so I'm glad that they could stay together. Just one more week and the "stinkies" should be gone enough for them to go to a new home. Handsome little chat noirs, aren't they?

William Chat-Noir livin' the good life:

and showing of his "Chat Noir" face!

3. Awwwww...Those are some handsome bros!
And despite the problems you mentioned they look remarkably healthy and very relaxed in your
care. Life works in mysterious ways...

4. Indeed. Sadly, my photos don't do them justice
they're so plush! Their fur shimmers like silk (after so many shampoos) and that mahogany color on their bellies is just lovely contrasted against the deep black. Their tails are huge plumes and their manes are coming in nicely. The vet says they're around 7 months old. They're a large breed(s), whatever they are. I'm thinking that they have some ragdoll in them; those small ears, round heads and the constant trilling, along with the fact that they like to sit up on their hind legs and flop over onto their backs for attention seems to point to some ragdoll blood. My friend's neighbor said that they were just dumped in a ditch on the road :-(. My guess is that the coccidia made their previous owner lose patience with them. Some people should never own pets!

5. Those are 2 magnificent and incredibly lucky little chat noirs.
The tails make me think of Maine Coon or Norwegian Forest Cat. Will they be able to interact with any of your sweeties before they leave?
RE: Your comment about some people should never have pets.

My landlady and I found the most adorable Scottish fold cat in the street. We were told that the owners moved and left him
behind. x(

Having just lost her little Midgie girl, a cat that she had for 17 years, my landlady HAD to take in this little cutie pie. We named him Fergus.

Fergus had a earmites, fleas, a URI and had to be neutered. My landlady did all that but the URI would not go away, even with the meds that the first and second vet gave her..

The other day we took him to the THIRD veterinarian hoping to find out what was wrong with him. My landlady was getting nervous that her other 6 cats might catch something. This vet diagnosed him, and gave her some excellent antibiotics that I read were the best for URI.

ANYHOOOO.. When this doctor walked into the exam room and saw Fergus, she got this huge smile on her face and told us that she had had a wonderful Scottish fold a few years back. She mentioned that they are very expensive...like $1500. When asked how she got him, she told us that some snooty, rich lady brought him to the vets office where she had worked and wanted him euthanized because he had diarrhea too much..CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT!!??

So this vet took him home and named him ET. His face was all black, He was torti, and his ears were barely visible. People would see him and ask what it was. She would tell them it is a cat. They would say, No really, What is that..? :D

Here is the best part. I asked her how long she had the cat. She told me that he lived to be almost 19 years old...in fact, he outlived that bitch that dumped him. Talk about justice!!!!

and the finale. When she went to pay the bill at this vet, my landlady told me that so far Fergus had cost her about $1000. I told her that was not bad, she was still $500 ahead based on what the vet said they sell for....

6. Scottish folds are wonderful cats! My father had two of them

he and his girlfriend named them Dougal and Tweed. They were real characters-and yes, they cost a bundle! Unfortunately people like the snooty rich lady are hardly uncommon. When I was doing fostering on a regular basis I took in these two magnificent purebred bengals:

Tribal:

and India:

Their wealthy owner got bored with them and dumped them on a roadside. A neighbor who saw him do it captured India but couldn't find her sister Tribal. It took her weeks to finally find her. Fortunately they both found loving homes with people who had always wanted a bengal, but could never cough up the thousands needed to buy one. The same, of course, went for my serval hybrid Ashiki. The original owner could come up with $7,000 to buy him but not $2,000 for a custom built outdoor enclosure to keep him happy during the day? :eyes: There are times when I think there should be laws governing who is allowed to have pets-or children, for that matter! There are far too many self centered jerks out there!

I do wonder if the noir brothers are some type of purebreed. They're so plush and handsome-plus they are HUGE, yet obviously still kittens. They could be Norwegian or Siberian Forest cats-or possibly ragdolls or ragamuffins-but not Maine Coons. They don't have lynx tips, their muzzles aren't very large and their ears are small and spaced far apart on their heads. They trill constantly like forest cats though-it sounds like I have two strange birds in the house. I've allowed them to roam the house freely, but they drive my other cats nuts-even Pippin! The more they get hissed at the more they hound the hisser! They just run after Pip, trilling the whole time while he's hissing like mad! I wonder if Puck is amused by all this since he has done the same to her (minus the trilling) for nearly a year now. It'll be much quieter around here when they finally go to their new home!

8. Oh my. Those Bengals are exquisite. Are their eyes truly that incredible color???

I cannot believe that they were just dumped like that. It is fantastic that the person who saw them being dumped rescued them. Too bad they were not able to prosecute the person who dumped them.
I remember your experience with Ashiki, and that ...let's say...manic/depressive, who owner him. Do you still have any contact with her? Are you able to know how Ashiki is doing?

Your newest fosters are just magnificent. Would you ever consider keeping them, or are they getting on the last nerve of Puck and Pippin? I know that Oberon never gets bothered :D

EDIT: OOPS.. I just reread your OP, and had forgotten that your friend's Dad will be taking them.

9. Yeah, they really did have aquamarine eyes!

A couple from South Carolina drove all the way down here to Florida to pick Tribal up after seeing her photos on Petfinder. That seems like a long way to go to adopt a cat, but still far cheaper than spending 2k at a breeders!

Ashiki's owner still shops at the same place I do for pet food, and the shop owners say that she still has him and she's still as "eccentric" as ever.

I'll adopt another friend for Pip at some point, but these two already have a taker-plus they drive everyone, INCLUDING Oberon (which is rare)absolutely nuts! They'll just start hounding whatever cat seems the most irritated by them and they won't give up. I sometimes have to give them a "time out" in the kitten room because of it. They are stunning though,no doubt about that, and I'm sure they'll be even more magnificent when they're fully grown. The house they're going to is out in the country, and I suspect that they'll be indoor/ outdoor cats, which is something I'm not terribly thrilled about. But they'll get to stay together and have their person at home with them all day every day, which they'll love. They're already traffic savvy, have their shots, and there's no coyotes here (yet), so they should be alright.

Oh, and one other funny feature about these two; when they're happy their huge tails arc over their backs and touch the top of their heads!

7. Lorien, bless you little heart!
For the unselfish act of opening up your home for these two kiddos in need so soon after losing Pye. Thank you for taking care of them!

And I hope the process of caring for these two youngsters has, in some way, aided in the healing of your sadness.

I love it when there is a happy ending!!!!!!

10. Thanks hamsterjill
I still miss Pye terribly, but having fosters is at least a distraction. The saddest part was when Pippin first saw them through the French doors leading into the "kitten room"; he thought that William was Pye! He kept calling to him and scratching at the door. When he finally figured out that it wasn't his best buddy he was pretty upset and stayed away from the doors for weeks. He's still kind of cranky with them, but that's more because they're both obnoxious than for any other reason! I'll be glad when they are healthy enough to finally go to their new home and I can start to look for a new best buddy for poor ol' Pippers.
