I'm looking for a kitty.......
I'm looking to adopt a young cat or kitten.

I know this is a long shot but I figured someone here might know of a kitty that needs a good home. So if you know of one and it's near my area.....Tulsa, Oklahoma, please let me know!

I'm looking for preferably an all black cat and female (I'm a little flexible on the color though). I would love to have a kitten but I'm also willing to adopt a slightly older one too.

5. Loved your post
I love it when someone is willing to open their home to a kitty in need!!! Nice of you to consider an older pet as they are often over looked.

Please don't forget to check your local animal control (or kill shelter) in addition to checking other resources.

Sounds like the kitty that winds up with you will be one lucky furry!

4. In Tulsa
check with Street Cats or Animal Aid at 15th and Harvard.

Both excellent groups.

6. Yay on you for wanting a black kitty!
:yourock: :pals:

Black cats (and dogs) have the lowest adoption rate...and higher abuse and euthanasia rates than any other color critters. :grr::cry:

It's a shame, because they are so beautiful and elegant...color doesn't determine temperament.

I've had eight black cats over the last 20 years (multiple cat household!) and they've all been sociable, loving and intelligent.
One of them is a mama's boy bit aloof and particular about the humans with whom he associates...
but you can get that with any color furkid.

7. I had a black shortair for 18 years
And I can attest to the amiable temperament. He was always a good boy. Gone but not forgotten.

Now we are cat-sitting, long term, my son's long-haired cat who looks exactly like "Turkish Angora" in the books. She's 4 and 1/2 and as playful as a kitten. And she's a real beauty.

10. Really? I had no idea. That's my favorite color for a cat or dog.
I had a black beagle/lab mutt when I was a little girl and since then I've always loved black cats and dogs. I have a tortise calico cat now and had a tuxedo cat before, but would love a second one and a black cat would be great!! They are so beautiful.

8. My female cat Grace came from the Tulsa Animal Shelter
She was in the back room, where the "unadoptable" animals are kept. Since we didn't find one out front that we fell in love with, we asked to see the rest. On her cage, the tag said "Bad attitude." She meowed pretty loud when we walked in, so we figured we better see what was going on. We were afraid to touch her due to the notation on the tag.

When someone finally came in that worked there, they said it was OK to take her out of the cage if she seemed friendly, which she did. She did not want to be put back in the cage! We took her home right then.

Our vet works at the shelter as a volunteer, and she said that notation on Grace's tag was a death sentence.

She's been a wonderful cat. She's a long haired Tortoise Shell with gold eyes. The thought of her being put down because she had a bad attitude makes me cringe.

Feline Specialties in South Tulsa is great, when you need a vet.
